Marie Gabrielle Blix is a Mexican composer with a profound passion for telling stories through music. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, where she earned degrees in Film Scoring, Composition, and Conducting, she has written music for film, dance, and the concert stage, blending diverse genres and styles with contemporary and unconventional expressive resources.

Her symphonic debut, Terra Fungorum, was premiered by the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata (OJUEM) under the baton of Mark Kadin at the world-renowned Sala Nezahualcóyotl. Since then, the work has been taken up by some of Mexico’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM (OFUNAM), under maestro Roberto Beltrán-Zavala—again at Sala Neza—and the Filarmónica de Querétaro, conducted by Mark Kadin, further cementing its place in the contemporary symphonic repertoire. Her music has also been featured at notable venues such as the Teatro Metropolitano in Querétaro and the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City.

Marie’s work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Vuk Kulenovic Memorial Prize in 2020 from Berklee’s Composition Department, awarded to the top composition students of the year. In 2022, she was selected for the Cátedra Extraordinaria Arturo Márquez de Composición Musical, a prestigious and highly selective one-year program under the mentorship of Grammy-winning and internationally acclaimed Mexican composer Arturo Márquez.

In film, Marie has scored over a dozen independent short films presented at international festivals, including the award-winning Tampón, which earned Best National Short Film at the Corto Creativo UDCI Festival. She has served as a composer assistant at DAD Music Productions and collaborated with composer Juan Carlos Enriquez on high-profile projects such as the Disney+ series Mamá Cake and the feature films Es Por Su Bien, Quieres Ser Mi Novia, and Cocina con Fusión.

Her passion for interdisciplinary work is reflected in DONUM, a multidisciplinary project in collaboration with choreographer Yazmín Barragán and dancers from the Compañía Nacional de Danza de México.

Marie has also contributed as a pianist, vocalist, orchestrator, arranger, transcriber, and copyist for a wide range of artists, ensembles, and organizations. Her collaborations include work with Netflix Mexico and Candela Entertainment on promotional events for the series One Piece and Queen Charlotte.
